Offering this unique pair of 25-tooth gears (right-side pair of gears in photo) for Peerless 820-Series heavy-duty vertical-input transaxles to increase axle RPM with no increase in engine RPM. This Gearset allows the differential to be kept intact while providing a higher internal final-drive ratio (3.44:1 vs. the original 8.02:1). The original 15-tooth 778253 shifter/brake-shaft gear (Peerless 820 IPL Reference 7) and 35-tooth 778247 intermediate output-shaft gear (IPL Reference 6B) which produce the 8.02:1 final-drive ratio are the left-side pair of gears in the photo. This Gearset is the fastest final-drive gearset available for the 820-Series transaxles.
These gears are Made-In-The-USA from the same thickness SAE1117 alloy and hardened to Rc 58-62, the same alloy and heat-treat specification used for other original Peerless 820 cut-steel transaxle gears. Many successful mower racers are using these gears, including those on the European circuits. Deutshland (German) racers have been particularly successful with these gears, especially in the Thoense 24-hour ride-on mower race.
INTERFERENCE NOTE: When these gears are installed in the transaxle, the teeth of the fine-spline gear on the end of the shifter/brake shaft may encounter interference with the edge of the casting post inside the case. If this occurs, simply trim the edge of the casting on a slight angle about 1/16" (1.5 mm).
FIT NOTE: This Gearset fits all 820-Series Peerless Gear transaxles -- those with Model Numbers of 820-xxxx -- and it will ONLY fit the 820-Series transaxles. It will not fit any 900s, 910s, 920s, 930s, 800/801s, or the MST 200-Series transaxles. I do not have any high-speed gearsets for any Peerless Gear transaxles except the 820. If you need a faster transaxle, I would suggest upgrading to an 820.
This Gearset is not available from any other source. Being a non-stock gearset, purchaser agrees to be responsible for all usage of and liability for this gearset.
DURABILITY NOTE: These gears are engineered for 'off-road' vehicle use on grass and dirt. Attempting to 'pop the clutch' with this gearset on hard pavement could possibly strip the fine splines on the inside of the brake-shaft gear and the end of the brake shaft.
